Heading into the 2024–25 season, the OKC Thunder looked to build on the momentum of a breakthrough year, on and off the court. Our Start of Season social media campaign was designed to re-energize the fan base, celebrate the team’s growth, and set the tone for what’s ahead. Through vibrant design and storytelling, we turned fan enthusiasm into sustained engagement, while continuing to evolve the visual identity of Thunder Basketball.

How do you keep the energy alive after a high-emotion playoff run—while also refreshing the narrative for a new season? We needed a campaign that honored where we’ve been, reflected where we are, and inspired belief in where we’re going.
STRATEGY
We built a fan-first campaign that emphasized optimism, identity, and progress. With a new shape system as the foundation, we evolved the team’s design language into something more flexible, dynamic, and forward-facing. This allowed us to:
Convey a sense of continuous motion and momentum
Spotlight the uniqueness of our team, brand, and city
Create modular, adaptable content for different social platforms
Maintain consistency while pushing creative boundaries
By balancing hype with heart, we positioned the 2024–25 season as the next chapter in a bigger story—one fans could feel part of from day one.
REsULTS
The campaign struck a chord with our fan base, reigniting excitement across platforms and reinforcing the Thunder’s growing presence in the league. Visually, the new shape system helped elevate our creative direction, giving us a toolkit that’s adaptable, expandable, and future-ready. With high engagement metrics and positive fan sentiment, the campaign helped drive early-season buzz while laying the foundation for a full season of storytelling and connection.
