In collaboration with the Oklahoma City Thunder, I had the unique opportunity to design a mural for the break room at MLK Elementary School, a project aimed at giving back to the community and supporting education. My design concept was centered around creating a vibrant and uplifting space for the teachers, transforming the previously dull room into a haven of color and positivity. I meticulously chose a palette that reflected both the energy and spirit of the school, blending it with typography elements that represented the school (look closely and you'll see the letters MLK). This revitalized space now serves not just as a break room, but as a source of inspiration and joy for the hardworking educators at MLK Elementary School.

STRATEGY
Working with the Oklahoma City Thunder, I approached this project with the goal of blending aesthetic impact with thoughtful intention. I selected a bright, energizing color palette to breathe life into the space and create a more uplifting environment for teachers. To honor the school’s identity, I subtly incorporated the letters “MLK” into the mural through abstract typography, creating a visual connection to the school without being overt. The design was crafted to evoke joy, reflection, and pride, offering educators a space that feels both personal and inspiring.
REsULTS
The finished mural completely transformed the break room, turning it into a space that now radiates energy and appreciation. The response from MLK Elementary staff and the local community was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how much the new space lifted their spirits. The project not only met the goal of giving back but also demonstrated the power of design to create meaningful, lasting impact in everyday environments.
